Dr Nathan Sturgess holds the degrees MChD and FACRRM and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He completed his medical degree at the Australian National University in 2019, with a particular commitment to comprehensive, patient-centred care.

Nathan believes every patient deserves to feel genuinely heard, and takes care to approach each consultation with consideration and thoroughness.

Dr Nathan Sturgess

Dr Nathan Sturgess (MChD, FACRRM, RGA) is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, with a passion for thoughtful, patient-centred care.

He completed his medical degree at the Australian National University in 2019, having earlier graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours from Monash University in 2015. This strong foundation in biomedical science underpins Nathan's evidence-based approach to general practice.

Nathan brings a broad skillset to his practice, including a Diploma of Rural Anaesthetics, and has particular clinical interests in paediatrics, obstetrics, and all areas of general medicine. He believes every patient deserves to feel genuinely heard, and takes care to approach each consultation with consideration and thoroughness.

Outside of the consulting room, Nathan enjoys a round of golf, board games with friends, and time at home with his wife, two children, and their playful Italian greyhound.

Appointments at the Castlemaine (Lyttleton Street) clinic can be booked online via the Book Appointment button, or by calling (03) 5472 3233. The Bendigo (Creek Street) clinic is currently phone bookings only — please call (03) 5442 5642 to arrange an appointment.

Please bring your Medicare card, any current medications (or a medication list), any relevant test results or referrals from previous doctors, and your health care card or pension card if applicable. If you are a new patient, arriving a few minutes early to complete registration paperwork is appreciated.
Standard appointments are 15 minutes. If you have multiple concerns, a complex issue, or require a health assessment, please let reception know when booking so a longer appointment can be arranged. It is always better to have enough time to address your concerns properly.
Routine results that are normal are often communicated by phone or message. Abnormal or complex results will generally require a follow-up appointment so they can be discussed properly. Please contact the clinic to find out how your results will be communicated.
Please call the clinic as early as possible — urgent appointments are often available on the day. If it is a life-threatening emergency, please call 000 immediately.
Yes — paediatrics and child health is one of Dr Sturgess's special interests. He welcomes patients of all ages, from newborns through to adults, and is experienced in childhood development, immunisations, and common childhood illnesses.
Referrals and repeat prescriptions generally require a consultation. This ensures your care is safe and up to date. Please book an appointment or call the clinic to discuss your needs.
